What the research actually shows
Zhu 2024 was a 20-person split-face untreated-control study of microfocused ultrasound, and Ling and Zhao 2023 was a systematic review and meta-analysis of MFU; neither was a radiofrequency study. Zhu did not specify one prespecified primary endpoint. At three months, lower-face volume on the control side was +0.49 mL according to the main text and table, while the abstract reported +0.42 mL, an internal numerical inconsistency in the original article. The six-month between-side volume difference and between-side wrinkle, pore, and pigment differences were null. Ling and Zhao pooled 13 studies and 477 participants, but most were single-arm. Absence of a sham control, no single prespecified primary endpoint, and some null six-month findings support C. For comparison, verdict 1755, which is C with 42 points, addresses monopolar radiofrequency, a different energy device.
