- Some alternatives contain more sodium than unseasoned meat, and saturated fat depends on formulation oils.

What the research actually shows
Crimarco crossed at least two daily servings of Beyond Meat products with beef, pork, and chicken periods. Thirty-six of 38 randomized participants completed both eight-week phases. TMAO was primary in the registry and analysis plan; LDL was prespecified secondary. The paper states that Beyond Meat funded the study and that the principal investigator received an unrestricted research gift from Beyond Meat. NHLBI training support and Stanford CTSA infrastructure did not jointly fund trial operations.

One manufacturer-funded crossover trial found a conventionally moderate LDL difference, but it was a prespecified secondary surrogate without comparable independent replication and was small and short, giving C with 44 points.
