What the research actually shows
The Chamberlin paper was cross-checked with NCT04283448 results. Registration was posted in February 2020 before recruitment began in June, making it prospective. Postprandial glucose was one of multiple registered primary outcomes and matched the paper, so it was neither unreported nor failed. The registered means and standard deviations yield an approximate standardized difference of 0.50. Attrition and completer-only analysis remain important because 47 were randomized and 38 analyzed.
Why this is classified as C (50)
A conventionally moderate positive effect appeared in a prospectively registered glucose outcome, but evidence is one 38-completer trial on a surrogate outcome, with only some of many co-primary outcomes positive. The grade is C with 50 points.
Counterpoint. Larger independent trials measuring diabetes incidence or durable glycemic control are needed to establish clinical meaning.
