Sinetrol XPur,
does it really help with Reduced body fat, waist circumference, and weight in adults with overweight?
research showsSinetrol XPur is rated C with 50 points. Three randomized double-blind trials lasting 12 to 16 weeks repeatedly found selected signals in weight, fat mass, waist circumference, or body-fat percentage, but relied on body-composition surrogates. The 16-week trial randomized 107 participants and had 77 completers; total body-fat percentage changed by -1.98 percentage points within the active group and -0.13 within placebo, an approximate between-group difference of -1.85 points. In the 2020 Korean trial, DEXA body-fat percentage and computed-tomography abdominal fat were null between groups. Developer-linked authorship, blend attribution, and no durable clinical outcome invoke the rule ②-b ceiling of C.
ads claimMarketing expands a lipolysis mechanism and small body-composition differences into large clinical weight loss, obesity treatment, and durable prevention of regain. The trials used the specific citrus-guarana blend at 900 mg/day for 12 to 16 weeks, and findings were not consistent across every fat, waist, and weight measure.
Useful facts when choosing a product
- Sinetrol XPur is a branded blend of grapefruit, orange or blood-orange extracts, and guarana, and is not interchangeable with generic citrus extract.
- Pivotal trials generally used 900 mg/day for 12 to 16 weeks, so their findings cannot automatically be transferred to different doses, similarly named ingredients, or finished products containing additional stimulants.
- Guarana supplies caffeine, and ingredient specifications provide a caffeine range, so intake from coffee, energy drinks, and other weight-control products should be counted together.
- A small short-term change in body-fat percentage or waist circumference does not establish fewer cardiovascular events, fewer diabetes complications, or sustainable long-term weight loss.
What the research actually shows
Dallas and colleagues studied 95 adults with overweight for 12 weeks and reported favorable waist, hip, and abdominal-fat differences; the corresponding author was employed by Fytexia. Park and colleagues enrolled 100 Korean adults, with 86 completers, and found favorable weight, BMI, and DEXA fat mass, while DEXA body-fat percentage and computed-tomography abdominal fat did not differ from control. Muralidharan and colleagues randomized 107 participants, of whom 77 completed the 16-week trial; total body-fat percentage changed by -1.98 percentage points within the active group and -0.13 within placebo, an approximate between-group difference of -1.85 points. Three authors were Fytexia employees. These data concern short-term body composition from the branded blend, not citrus polyphenols generally or long-term cardiovascular benefit.
Why this is classified as C (50)
Selected positive findings across three small short double-blind trials prevent D, but surrogate body-composition outcomes, several null comparisons among multiple measures, branded-ingredient developer concentration, and no large independent long-term trial place the verdict at C with 50 points. Caffeine safety is separate from efficacy.
Counterpoint. If used, it should not replace diet and activity changes, and actual weight and waist response should be checked objectively after 12 to 16 weeks. If there is no measurable change, a marketing mechanism alone is a weak reason to continue.
Rejudgment record. New verdict — Accepted selected repeated positive findings from three small 12-to-16-week double-blind trials, but applied rules ① and ②-b because some DEXA and computed-tomography between-group measures were null, outcomes were body-composition surrogates, attribution is to a multi-ingredient blend, and developer authorship and sponsorship dominate the evidence
Sub-claim grades by effect
This ingredient is marketed for several effects. A single overall grade blends strong and weak claims together, so each effect is graded separately here. The overall grade reflects the strongest disconfirming or core claim.
| Effect (sub-claim) | Grade | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Reduction of body fat, waist circumference, and weight in adults with overweight | C | Selected measures were positive across several short trials, but findings were not consistent across all outcomes and branded-ingredient developer interests dominate. |
| Replication independent of the ingredient developer | ? | Key positive trials included developer or commercial-product authors, and no adequately independent large replication was identified. |
| Clinically large, durable weight loss attributable to the citrus-guarana blend | ? | Component contributions were not isolated, and the link from 12-to-16-week body-composition differences to durable weight maintenance or clinical outcomes has not been tested. |

| Study | Design | Sample | Funding | Endpoint | Result | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dallas C et al. 2014 | Twelve-week randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial | 48 | Corresponding author employed by Fytexia in a branded-ingredient development context | Waist and hip circumference, abdominal fat, weight, and metabolic markers | Reported favorable differences of -5.71% versus -1.56% for waist and -9.73% versus -3.18% for abdominal fat. | Direct positive evidence with developer linkage and short-term surrogates |
| Park SJ et al. 2020 | Twelve-week randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial | 86 | Three Rpbio employee coauthors in a commercial-product evaluation context | Weight, BMI, DEXA fat, and computed-tomography abdominal fat and metabolic risk | Weight, BMI, and DEXA fat mass were favorable, but DEXA body-fat percentage and computed-tomography measures did not differ from control. | Direct mixed evidence with selected null objective surrogates |
| Muralidharan J et al. 2026 | Sixteen-week randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial with four-week follow-up | 77 | Three Fytexia employee authors in a company branded-ingredient trial | DEXA total body-fat percentage, lean mass, and resting energy expenditure | At 16 weeks, total body-fat percentage changed by -1.98 points within the active group and -0.13 within placebo, an approximate between-group difference of -1.85 points, without a long-term clinical weight-maintenance outcome. | Repeated positive signal with developer concentration and surrogate outcomes |
