Cox 2017 assigned 20 participants per group across six groups to enteric-coated bovine lactoferrin 200 mg, immunoglobulins, combinations, or placebo for 28 days and found no significant between-group body-composition or metabolic differences. El Amrousy 2026 assigned 73 children and adolescents with obesity and metabolic steatotic liver disease to lactoferrin 100 mg or no supplement while both groups followed a hypocaloric diet; weight and BMI improved at three months, but there was no placebo or blinding.
