- Bovine-colostrum supplements are dairy-derived foods sold as powders or capsules. They contain protein and immunoglobulins, but bioactivity and content can vary with collection timing, animal factors, heat processing, and batch.
- Exercise trials have used different products at roughly 3.2 to 60 g daily for several weeks to months, so a retail label or serving cannot be assumed to match a studied intervention.
- Short-term use is generally tolerated, but abdominal discomfort, nausea, or diarrhea can occur. People with cow's-milk protein allergy should avoid it, and lactose content should be checked by those with lactose intolerance.
- Athletes should independently verify third-party contamination testing, regardless of efficacy, and a supplement does not replace training, sleep, or adequate energy and protein intake.

The 2021 narrative overview examined about 25 years of bovine-colostrum exercise research and found some positive findings for protection during intensified training and recovery after demanding exercise, while calling the direct performance evidence minimal. A 2025 randomized double-blind crossover trial in 28 endurance-trained men used 25 g daily for 12 weeks and improved selected ventilatory-threshold measures without improving time to exhaustion. A 2026 trial in 29 club rugby players used 38 g daily for eight weeks and improved vertical jump but not bench-press or leg-press strength, 20-m shuttle-run aerobic power, or body composition. A 2018 trial in 18 soccer players used 3.2 g daily for six weeks and reported improved squat-jump recovery and selected inflammatory or muscle-damage markers after intermittent exercise. The small samples and differences in product, dose, training context, and endpoints prevent a single stable effect estimate.
